Designing a GOURMET Sandwich!…..We Need YOUR help!

Sandwich Recipe Competition!...We Need YOUR Help!

...BUT FIRST....THE LOW-DOWN....
today was a difficult day. 53 miles uphill towards the Lolo Pass, but we were lucky to only get rain for the last 10 minutes of our full day. Made it to Powell, a beautiful cabin-like-looking lodge and were invited to camp out on their lawn. Tomorrow we finish the last 13 steep miles to the top of the pass and enjoy the LOLO Hot Springs as a reward for the longest single up-hill climb of our whole transamerica trip! (77 continuous uphill miles).

FOOD! FOOD! FOOD!
Our Food and Eating Habits for the last 3 weeks!
Yesterday we decided to change our diet. We’ve been eating the SAME thing every day since we left Florence,OR, 3 weeks ago.
- The staple peanut butter, banana, bee pollen, agave sandwich for breakfast.
- Avocado, tomato and cheese sandwich for lunch.
- And either another peanut butter, banana, bee pollen, agave sandwich for dinner, or eating out at the local diner (fish and chips, tuna melt, veggie burgers, spaguetti, etc.).

Well you can imagine that after 3 whole weeks and 3 meals per day of the SAME Menu, even delicious avocado and yummy agave can get a little dull and repetitive, so yesterday we decided that we wanted to start getting creative with our meals. So i traded our regular bread for a cinnammon loaf, traded our cheddar for swiss. and our chocolates for fruits such as kiwis, cherries and pears.

Our First Creative Meal Day:

Today we ate:
Breakfast: Gaby and Cesar: a sandwich (cinnammon bread with swiss cheese and pear), and half a banana

Snack: Gaby: an apple. Cesar: a Hershey’s chocolate Bar and half of my apple

Lunch: Gaby: a cheese, tuna and mustard sandwich and for dessert pan de canela con miel. Cesar: a cheese, banana and honey sandwich. a swiss cheese, cheddar and honey sandwich and for dessert a BAbe Ruth chocolate bar.

Dinner: we ate at the Powell Lodge (best food since we left Los Angeles). We shared some hot teas, mashed potatoes with butter, a salad, a loaf of bread and an olive, artichoke and sundried tomato fettuccini. And for dessert we had a warm blackberry cobbler a la mode with Huckleberry ice cream. YUMM…

CREATIVE LUNCHES COMPETITION!
We’re trying to figure out what possible creative things we can put in our lunches?
So I have decided to create a competition where all of our friends can suggest possible lunch options for us, sandwich fillings, alternatives, etc.

LUNCH OPTION REQUIREMENTS:
Whatever you recommend, please keep in mind that it should be:
- something practical
- yummy
- vegetarian-friendly
- with a decent amount of protein/carbs, etc.
- that is easy to make and to carry
- that we can actually find it in any small town, middle America super market.

We promise to actually put together these sandwiches/proposed lunches and I will mail out a certificate (in the form of a postcard saying that “WHOHOO YOUR RECIPE IS THE B-O-M-B!") to the best sandwich/lunch recipe that meets the requirements above.

Missing you all and thanks for taking this journey with us and staying in touch! My mouth is already watering!
